Aims and Scope

Objectives and perspective of Greater Khorasan Research Journal

 Greater Khorasan is the name of a vast, historical and civilization-building region corresponding to parts of eastern Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the name of a province in Iran that during the Sassanids and early Islamic period, not only the current provinces of Khorasan. In Iran, but also in all the eastern lands, from the Great Ray and the desert to present-day Afghanistan and even to the Upper Indus Valley and Indus, that is, present-day Pakistan. In some periods, in addition to these regions, Transoxiana and Khorezm, ie part of the republics of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, were also part of Khorasan (see: Istakhri, pp. 253-254; Ibn Hawql, p. 310; Moqaddasi, pp. 294-295; 151, 155-156).

  • Understanding the historical and cultural significance of this ancient region, the Historical Research Institute of Greater Khorasan, with an international and regional approach, tries to become a vehicle for publishing and publishing outstanding scientific researches and articles about this great region based on the following goals:
  • Dusting from the rich, historical and valuable history and treasures of Greater Khorasan
  • Efforts to raise the level of scientific, solid and deep knowledge of the historical area of ​​Greater Khorasan
  • Efforts to identify the areas of civilization of Greater Khorasan, especially the four areas of "political and geopolitical developments", "art and architecture, especially in the Islamic period", "history, culture and civilization", and "urban planning and urban studies" in Greater Khorasan
  • Creating convergence between knowledge between the fields of history, culture, art, urban planning, urbanism and architecture, as well as the geography of Greater Khorasan
  • Creating synergy and scientific partnership for cooperation between Iranian researchers and other countries in the field of civilization of Greater Khorasan
